Republicans, and the current Democrats even more, are pushing the US into Weimar. The outcome of Weimar will be Fascism or Communism. There is one way to prevent Weimar; ordinary Americans, all that majority of Americans, of all moderate political tendencies, all those who are responsible parents, husbands and wives, who may or may not be religious, who are responsible workers, good neighbours, who pay their mortgages and rents, who pay their loans, etc., have to take to the streets, in Martin Luther King style, to demand the civil right they deserve and is necessary to save the US (the good people of the UK, Canada and other democracies too), that most important of all civil rights is the right to decide the present of your town, city, state and the whole nation, the power to decide any law, any policy, any regulation, any tax, any budget, the level of national debt, state debt and local debt, the size of the army, the abortion laws, the changes to the constitution, the power to be the FINAL and top decision makers on any issue, removing that power off the hands of politicians. Turning the elected executive and legislators into faithful executioners of the will of the people. That is what the Swiss people did, peacefully but relentlessly demanded the power to decide issues, the power to elect representatives was no longer enough. The Swiss constitution at the time had as model the US Constitution, but soon the Swiss, bless them, saw that it placed excessive power in the hands of politicians, who could not resist using their powers to continuously accumulate more power to benefit themselves and control the lives of the people. The Swiss decided: “we pay, we decide, you obey”. The Swiss people transformed the role of politicians, from “leaders” (mostly demagogues) into civil servants, into faithful carriers of the will of the people. The Swiss experience of almost two centuries, clearly demonstrates those ordinary, responsible, citizens are more responsible and wiser decision makers than the politicians. The system also prevents politicians from deviating from the will of the people. There is even more; the four major political parties of center, right and left, representing about 80% of voters, work ALWAYS in coalition in the executive and legislative, no crazy polarisation or paralysis in Switzerland. And, this you will not believe, Swiss politicians get an approval rating in the 75 to 85% range. There is a lot more, I hope this gets you interested in taking to the streets and perform the fine tuning all democracies need. Dictatorships, all of them, religious or not, are all abominations; China, Iran, Cuba, etc., all are 24/7 offenses to tge dignity of human beings. Just in case: tge Swiss system is verycdifferent from the California system because the power of citizens covers the federal government and many other details.
