This is the Swiss breakthrough: they realized that the ordinary Swiss people, the vast majority of whom have the brains, the smart and mature brains and character, to be responsible fathers and mothers, boyfriends and girlfriends, grandfathers and grandmothers, workers, supervisors, managers, plumbers, accountants, firefighters, doctors, engineers, nurses, civil servants and in any honest profession, who daily have to make important decisions for today and for the future of themselves and their families, jobs and business, pay their mortgages and rents, pay their taxes, drive responsibly are good neighbours and on and on, those people also have what it takes to be the final authority in the governance of their town, city, canton (state) and the whole nation. And the history of the Swiss system proves them right decade after decade. The Swiss prove that empowered citizens do not need leaders or messiahs or visionaries or demagogues of rhe right or the left. The Swiss also prove that the Left-Right divisiob is mistly bs to herd and distract the people. Not only that, the final authority the people have over the executives and legislators also has turned politicians into better decision makers. Now go and check all indicators of governance and democracy, no country comes close, never mind the bs of The Economist and others about “democratic quality”. The time has come for the people of all democracies to take to the streets like when Americans did for the civil rights of Blacks. All of us deserve ti be first class citizens like the Swiss; “we pay, we decide, politicians obey’
